The Ride
The big news of course is that Tom and Sam completed John O'Groats to Land's End, 865 miles, in 4 DAYS 16 HOURS. Jules completed over 750 miles in four and a half days, Jono completed around 550 miles in two and a half days and Paul 185 miles in just over a day.
The sign posts have the names of places we know!!
Wow, four days in and there are still people riding. I don't know how as I'm shattered and I'm sat in a van, even getting to share the driving. We're unfortunately down to three now as Jono had the same knee problems as Paul and had to stop riding yesterday afternoon. He put in a valiant effort though completing around 550 miles but decided that having dodgy knees forever more just wasn't worth it.

We're JOGLEing on!
Well, my first blog but that's purely because it's nearly 8pm and the boys still have about another two hours of cycling to go to complete day two's leg of the journey so I thought rather than make one of them write something when all they'll want to do is eat, shower and crash when they get here, i'll fill you in instead.....
It's the final countdown!
Hello all, I have returned from my wanderings around the middle east and am fully revitalized ready to take on the challenge that lies ahead. Whilst I was away I was unable to get any cycling in, however I did managed to get a few gym sessions in, as well as a couple of runs, some swimming and an indoor triathlon (rowing, cycling, running). I have also just received my new gadget for the ride, a handy head camera which is going to be mounted on my helmet, it arrived yesterday so myself and Jon thought we'd take it out for a test ride.......
The wind in the willows
‘My my’ said ratty to mole, ‘its a bit blowy outside’. ‘Indeed’ agreed mole, ‘im soaked through and could barely clamber out of my hole its so windy, I must be mad to go out in this weather! Lets put the kettle on’. ‘Good idea’ agreed ratty but before he could get to the kitchen they were both startled by a strange noise and spray flying everywhere out of the window. ‘It must be toad up to his tricks again’ suggested ratty – ‘i think i can see him up the front of what likes like some new fangled contraption’. ‘It looks like a wheeled snake’ said mole, ‘except its travelling through water, how very strange. It does look rather like toad though doesnt it ratty?’ ............ Meanwhile.....
Back in the game
Having had an entire week off for bike servicing, work trips and visits to family and friends I went out on a pre and post work jaunt yesterday. As per usual when its just me and Sam we chose a ridiculously difficult route ........
That sinking feeling
Went for a ride on Saturday with Jules and Sam (who had already done 40 or so miles before he came to pick us up at 7.30am!).
150 miles, A drinker not an eater
Did a similar route to last weekend except lengthening every part where possible to get the extra 20 miles in. Had a great day for it with no rain and because of the route the 10mph wind helped and hindered me so canny really complain. I was out for around 10 3/4 hours with a total cycle time of 9:37hours and an average speed of 15.5mph. Had some trouble eating today I had my usual chunk of brunch bar every 15 minutes but it was a real struggle to eat my sandwiches.
